Day 1: Journey from Arusha to Tarangire National Park (Tanzania)
Our Tanzania & Kenya Safari kicks off with an exciting meeting about the thrilling journey that awaits us in Africa. Following the tour briefing in Arusha, we embark on an exciting journey southwest to Tarangire National Park.
This hidden gem of a park is a captivating part of the Northern Safari Circuit game parks. Tarangire Park, with its vast elephant herds and diverse wildlife, stands out as one of the most stunning wilderness regions in northern Tanzania. The Tarangire River winds its way through the park, drawing in a vibrant array of wildlife and a multitude of bird species. As the rainy season unfolds, creatures journey to the park from nearby lands, and among the diverse browsers and grazers, the fierce big cats lie in wait, driven by their hunger. The park boasts an array of thrilling wildlife, including tree-climbing pythons, majestic lions, and elusive leopards.
We embark on an exhilarating afternoon game drive in Tarangire Park. Relax and take in this untamed scenery adorned with baobab and acacia thorn trees while we embark on a quest for wildlife. Following our initial game drive in Tanzania, we journey to our tented camp close to Tarangire National Park for our first night under the stars.
Our first night in Tanzania is spent in exquisite en-suite tents, complete with verandas that offer breathtaking views of Lake Burunge and the expansive Tarangire beyond. The safari camp boasts a pool, a main lounge, and a dining/bar area elevated on a wooden deck, allowing guests to soak in the stunning views. Unwind with a drink as the sun dips below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the lake and the wild landscape, or gather around the inviting fireplace on cooler evenings.

Day 2: Journey from Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park & Karatu (Tanzania)
This morning after breakfast, we set off from Tarangire National Park, journeying north into the Great Rift Valley. The Great Rift Valley boasts a wealth of wildlife and stunning landscapes, extending over 6000 kilometers from Syria to Mozambique.
Our journey continues to Lake Manyara National Park, where a third of the landscape is adorned by the shimmering, shallow soda lake that gives the park its name. As we stepped into the park, we embarked on an exhilarating game drive. Lake Manyara Park captivates with its remarkable tree-climbing lions and the vibrant gatherings of flamingos and other waterbirds that flock here during certain rainy seasons. This small park is alive with the presence of large baboon troops and majestic elephant herds, all thriving in its varied landscapes, accompanied by a multitude of other fascinating creatures. On game drives here, you can frequently encounter hippos, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, impalas, monkeys, warthogs, and wildebeest. Lake Manyara Park draws in more than 400 species of birds, creating an exhilarating experience for bird enthusiasts.
Following our game drive, we journey into the Ngorongoro highlands, soaking in breathtaking vistas of the plains and Lake Manyara, stopping along the way to capture the stunning scenery with our cameras. On the second night of our budget lodge safari, we find ourselves at one of the wonderfully situated Tanganyika Wilderness Adventure Lodges. Nestled near a coffee estate, just a half-hour from the entrance of the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, these safari lodges provide stunning vistas of the vibrant crater highlands. If time allows after we arrive, we can embark on an optional stroll through the coffee plantations.

Day 3: Journey from Ngorongoro Crater to the vast expanse of Serengeti National Park (Tanzania)
Today we embark on a journey to Africa’s Garden of Eden, the renowned Ngorongoro Crater. Ngorongoro Crater stands out as one of Africa’s premier wildlife parks, brimming with excitement and exploration. It is also situated on the Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit, just like our next destination, the Serengeti Park. We rise with the sun for breakfast at dawn on the third day of our exhilarating journey through Tanzania. Next, we plunge down the rugged walls of the crater in a 4×4 vehicle to uncover the vibrant life teeming on the crater floor.
Ngorongoro, a remarkable feature of the Serengeti ecosystem, is a vast caldera measuring an astonishing 18 km across, with towering walls reaching heights of 600m. This UNESCO World Heritage Site boasts an incredible array of wildlife, featuring approximately 25,000 large mammals, making it a thrilling destination for those seeking excitement in nature. The rich ecosystems on the lush crater floor teem with life, showcasing an array of wildlife such as elephants, monkeys, hyenas, jackals, and vibrant herds of zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, and various antelope species. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to the Big Five of Africa, featuring one of the highest concentrations of lions globally. Ngorongoro presents an exceptional opportunity for wildlife observation and is renowned as a prime location to photograph the endangered black rhino.
In the early afternoon, we journey from Ngorongoro Crater to the vast and boundless Serengeti Plains. Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park is renowned for its spectacular annual Great Migration. The breathtaking scene of immense groups of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle journeying across the open plains, with fierce predators waiting in the shadows, is simply awe-inspiring.
Tonight we find ourselves at a tented camp nestled in the vibrant heart of Serengeti National Park. The classic tented camp provides cozy camping lodgings in the famous central Serengeti region, enveloped by the wild African landscape and its vibrant wildlife. The camp offers safari-style tents equipped with en suite bathrooms, electric lights, and mosquito netting for a comfortable stay.

Day 4: Serengeti Expedition (Tanzania)
On day four of our Kenya & Tanzania Safari, we rise with the first light of dawn. Experience the breathtaking sunrise over the African bush as we set off on an exhilarating morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. Early mornings offer the most thrilling opportunities for game viewing. Immerse yourself in the iconic landscapes of Africa as you witness a diverse array of wildlife moving about in their natural habitat. After our exhilarating Serengeti game drive, we return to the tented safari camp for a hearty breakfast.
Alternatively, you can secure a spot for a hot-air balloon journey over the expansive Serengeti Plains this morning. This experience will open your eyes to a new viewpoint and enable you to discover wildlife as you glide over the vast plains. Following the optional balloon ride (additional fee), participants enjoy a delightful champagne breakfast in the heart of the bush.
Serengeti National Park presents an exhilarating experience for wildlife enthusiasts throughout the year, showcasing thriving populations of Africa’s Big Five – rhino, lion, buffalo, elephant, and leopard, alongside vast herds of diverse antelope species including eland, topi, kudu, impala, oribi, waterbuck, and gazelle. The Serengeti is home to an exhilarating variety of wildlife, including cheetahs, hippos, giraffes, serval cats, crocodiles, hyenas, and a vibrant mix of other creatures such as monkeys, mongooses, and various rodent species. Additionally, it boasts over 500 bird species, making it a truly captivating destination!
Today, you can embark on an exciting guided trip to the visitor’s center with a representative from the Frankfurt Zoological Society. The experienced guide is ready to share insights about the organization’s endeavors over the past thirty years in Serengeti (please advise when booking). We relish another exhilarating game drive in the afternoon before heading back to our safari lodge for another night immersed in the African wilderness. Day 5: Journey from Serengeti National Park to the shores of Lake Victoria (Tanzania)
Our final day in the wilds of Tanzania kicks off with breakfast at the tented camp, surrounded by the untamed beauty of the Serengeti before we embark on our journey beyond the park. As we depart from Serengeti National Park, we embark on one last exhilarating game drive, eagerly scanning the landscape for any wildlife we might have overlooked along the way.
From Serengeti, we journey northwest to Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa and the second-largest in the world. We pause at the shores of Lake Victoria to take in the sights of this often-overlooked, lush area of Tanzania. The region surrounding the lake is the most densely populated in Tanzania, offering a unique chance to experience the local way of life and meet Tanzanian people in this lesser-known area. Observe the local fishermen as they haul in their catch and explore a rural community school in this hidden gem of Tanzania that remains untouched by the usual tourist trails.
This evening, you will spend the night at a charming safari lodge nestled on a serene 100-hectare estate by the shores of Lake Victoria. The lodge boasts a restaurant, bar, and lounge, while our accommodations consist of en suite thatched bungalows, thoughtfully positioned along the lakeshore to ensure privacy.

Day 6: Journey from Lake Victoria (Tanzania) to Masai Mara National Reserve (Kenya)
First breakfast, then our Tanzania & Kenya Safari leads us on an exhilarating canoe trip alongside the local fishermen. We set out onto the lake in a canoe to observe the locals fishing in their traditional manner. After our local fishing experience, we set off from Lake Victoria, ready for what lies ahead.
Today we embark on an exciting journey, crossing the border into Kenya and making our way to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve.
Masai Mara is a vibrant haven, teeming with the largest lion populations among Africa’s game reserves. Here, all of the big cats roam freely in substantial numbers year-round, not limited to the migration season. The annual Wildebeest Migration unfolds in this breathtaking game reserve – an extraordinary wildlife display featuring over two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle racing across the picturesque plains as they journey between Tanzania’s Serengeti and the Masai Mara in Kenya.
The 1510km² Mara Reserve boasts an extraordinary assortment of wildlife, featuring a multitude of antelope species, rhinos, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, elephants, hyenas, and a remarkable selection of birds. In the company of majestic big cats, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs.
On day six of this Budget African Safari, we spend the night in luxurious tents nestled beside a thicket that borders the escarpment. The safari camp is nestled on the edges of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The camp provides breathtaking vistas of the reserve, where antelopes and zebras roam freely, accompanied by a vibrant array of birdlife.

Day 7: Masai Mara Expedition (Kenya)
Today we embark on an exhilarating journey through the incredible Masai Mara National Reserve in open-sided 4×4 vehicles, embracing the essence of an authentic African safari. Joined by a seasoned safari guide, we set off on an exhilarating full day’s game drive, eager to encounter the Big 5 and the diverse wildlife wandering through the Masai Mara. In addition to the Big 5, the Masai Mara teems with life, including cheetahs, hyenas, bat-eared foxes, Masai giraffes, gazelles, elands, hartebeests, and roan antelopes.
Today, we embark on an exciting journey through the Mara Triangle area, nestled in the northwestern part of Masai Mara. This region boasts vast, rolling grasslands sprinkled with acacia trees, embodying the quintessential backdrop for exploration in the heart of Africa.
We also journey to the Mara River, famous for its breathtaking wildlife encounters during the annual wildebeest migration. During the rainy season, which spans from July to October, an incredible migration unfolds in this area, as the river expands to many times its usual size. Tens of thousands of hoofed creatures charge into the tumultuous Mara River, where crocodiles lurk, ready to seize their unsuspecting prey, as the herbivores bravely navigate the perilous crossing. The river draws in a vibrant array of wildlife and birds throughout the year, with hippos, crocodiles, and various other creatures congregating in this lively habitat.
After our thrilling day on safari in Masai Mara, we settle in for another night at the safari camp on the edge of Masai Mara National Reserve. Experience the thrill of staying in permanent canvas tents featuring brick-walled en suite bathrooms, elevated on wooden platforms that provide stunning views of the African bush.

Day 8 – 9: Masai Mara Expedition (Kenya)
The following two days will be an exhilarating experience in the Masai Mara National Reserve during our safari in Kenya. We immerse ourselves in thrilling days discovering one of Africa’s premier game reserves, embarking on exhilarating 4×4 game drives.
With ample opportunity to discover Masai Mara, you can savor every moment in this renowned wildlife park at your leisure. Pause to absorb the intricacies of the African bush and be awed by the marvels of the natural world.
Your guide leads you on an exhilarating quest to encounter the Big 5 and a myriad of other wild creatures that inhabit this remarkable landscape. Stay alert for Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, elands, and Coke’s hartebeests, along with other fascinating species. The Masai Mara boasts the Masai giraffe, a sight rarely found beyond Kenya, along with the elusive roan antelope and the intriguing nocturnal bat-eared fox. The game reserve is home to more than 470 bird species, featuring around 60 types of raptors.
We immerse ourselves in the wild for the next two nights at an unfenced safari lodge within the Masai Mara Game Reserve. This genuine game lodge is nestled in a forest by the Olarro Orok River, harmoniously merging with the surrounding wilderness. Amidst the pristine wilderness, the camp is alive with the sights and sounds of diverse wildlife and birds throughout the year. Day 10: Journey from Masai Mara to Nairobi (Kenya)
Awaken in the vibrant embrace of Masai Mara this morning and savor breakfast at camp. Then, it is time to bid farewell to this famous Kenyan game reserve and journey to Nairobi. As we journey out of Masai Mara, stay alert for the incredible wildlife and vibrant birds that may cross our path.
In the late afternoon, we arrive in the vibrant city of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, and check into our cozy hotel. Then you can unwind and enjoy your time at the hotel. Immerse yourself in the refreshing waters of the pool and unwind on a lounger, cocktail in hand.
This evening, we gather for a meal at the renowned Carnivore restaurant, nestled within the expansive grounds of our hotel, where every moment promises excitement.

Days 11 and 12: Journey from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park (Kenya)
On day 11 of our Tanzania & Kenya Safari, we embark on an exciting journey, departing from Nairobi after a delightful breakfast at the hotel. Our journey leads us to our ultimate destination in Kenya, Amboseli National Park. Amboseli stands out as Kenya’s second most beloved wildlife park, right after Masai Mara, and it’s easy to see why. This destination is renowned for offering an incredible opportunity to encounter wild elephants up close, with around 1000 free-roaming elephants calling it home. With the majestic snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro standing tall in the background, Amboseli captivates with its stunning visuals of wild elephants roaming freely against this breathtaking landscape.
The Amboseli region is a vibrant tapestry of life, where the traditional Maasai people of Kenya roam, adorned in their strikingly colorful robes. Be sure to look for these herders as you explore the landscape. As we reach the national park, we embark on an exhilarating game drive on our way to the overnight safari lodge nestled within Amboseli National Park. The remainder of day 11 and the entirety of day 12 are dedicated to discovering Amboseli through relaxed game drives. Alongside the renowned large elephant herds, the park offers the thrilling possibility of encountering the other iconic Big 5 animals – leopards, lions, rhinos, and buffalos. From Observation Hill, we can expect to encounter buffalos, hippos, and waterbirds in the marshes, alongside a variety of other wildlife.
