This 7-day trip is a quick safari covering the main attractions of Uganda’s offerings. It gets you to the Murchison Falls National Park boat safari on the River Nile and the wild animal excursions. Then visit Kibale Forest National Park, the ideal location for chimpanzee tracking. Finally visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to hike with the mountain gorillas.
Trip Itinerary ( Detailed Safari )
Day 1: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
You will go out on the road towards Murchison Falls National Park after breakfast, stopping at the Rhino Sanctuary. With more than thirty white rhinos, this 70 square km refuge serves primarily to help to bring rhinos back to Uganda. This is a very great chance for on foot observation of the rhinos in their natural environment at close proximity. You will then pause for lunch and then go for Murchison Falls National Park.
Accommodation: Fort Murchison (Tent)
Day 2: Game Drive in Murchison Falls National Park and Boat Safari on the River Nile.
Wake up early and leave at 6:30 am for a northern bank game drive, returning to the resort at 11:00 am. Baboons, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kob, hartebeests, oribis, waterbucks, bushbucks, reedbucks, warthogs, and side-stripped jackals will be seen.
You’ll see lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas. After lunch, take the jet for an afternoon boat trip on the Nile, where you may view hippos and crocodiles. If fortunate, you may spot goliath herons, Egyptian geese, pelicans, bee-eaters, kingfishers, hornbills, cormorants, saddle-bill storks, and shoe-bill stork The stunning Murchison Falls awaits you after 2 hours. Hike to the top of the falls to meet your driver/guide and drive back to the resort.
Accommodation: Fort Murchison (Tent)
Day 3: Drive to Kibale National Park.
You will leave Murchison Falls heading to Kibale Forest National Park after an early breakfast. Depending on the state of the road, we always consider this journey to be a full-day drive. You might reach Kibale at 4:00 pm. This provides an opportunity for individuals who like to visit the Crater Lakes area with breathtaking vistas to go for a communal stroll.
Accommodation: Kibale Forest Camp (Camping)
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking Experience in Kibale National Park.
Breakfast will wake you up early, then you will go to the Kibale Forest National Park park headquarters. Following a brief lecture by one of the park officials, you will be assigned a guide who will walk you into the jungle in search of the chimpanzees.
One can enjoy the finest primate tracking seeing the chimpanzee, man’s closest cousin, exclusively in this park in East Africa. You will go to Queen Elizabeth National Park after lunch. This will be a one-night halt meant to close the gap separating Kibale Forest from Bwindi Forest.
Accommodation: The Bush Lodge (Tent)
Day 5: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Today you will start your quest for the tree-climbing lions by setting out to Bwindi from Ishasha, the southern portion of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Among the animals you should find are elephants, buffaloes, lions, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, leopards, and hyenas. You then will go to Bwindi Forest National Park.
Accommodation: Broadbill Forest Camp
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
On the safari, this day is usually considered as the largest one among all the days. You will therefore go to the park headquarters after breakfast, and you have to get there no later than 7:30 am. Here you will be joining other guests for a park staff briefing.
You will then meet with the lead guide who will accompany you into the jungle to identify the gorilla family you are assigned. Depending on how far the family you are walking will have travelled today from where it was last seen yesterday, this might take two to seven hours round trip.
Depending on your mood, you might decide to attend nighttime community walks—optional—through the nearby communities around the forest.
Accommodation: Bunyonyi Overland Resort
Day 7: Drive to Entebbe.
Following breakfast, you will leave Bwindi for Kampala or Entebbe with a lunch stop in Mbarara and also near the equator for a picture session and some souvenir buying as you may like. You will then keep on either Kampala or Entebbe to catch your plane home. Your unforgettable and lifelong safari will also come to an end with this.
