Transport: Private 4×4
Price: From US$1,650 per person sharing
Best For: Culture-focused travelers, photographers, couples and travelers adding Karamoja to a wider East African trip.
Day 1: Entebbe/Kampala – Journey towards Eastern Uganda
Meet your Maseke Adventures driver-guide and begin your private journey east.
Uganda starts changing almost immediately as you leave the capital behind.
Roadside communities, farmland and trading centres introduce you to everyday life beyond the tourism circuit.
Break the journey in eastern Uganda for dinner and overnight.
Accommodation: Comfortable mid-range hotel/lodge
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Day 2: Eastern Uganda – Enter Karamoja
Continue north into increasingly open landscapes as you approach Karamoja.
Arrive around Moroto and meet a local cultural host who can begin introducing you to the region, its people and its pastoral history.
This first encounter is deliberately gentle.
Rather than rushing directly into someone’s home with a camera, begin by understanding where you are and how your community experience will work.
Accommodation: Mid-range lodge/camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3: Karamojong Community & Manyatta Experience
Today is the cultural heart of the safari.
With a local host, visit a Karamojong community and learn about traditional homestead structures, family life, livestock and the historical importance of cattle.
Depending on the community program, your experience may also involve traditional food, crafts, storytelling, music or dance.
Photography should always be respectful and follow your host’s guidance.
This is not about observing people as exhibits.
It is about conversation and understanding.
Accommodation: Mid-range lodge/camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 4: Karamoja – Landscapes, Local Life & Cultural Experience
Spend another day in the region rather than leaving immediately after one community visit.
Depending on your interests and available local experiences, explore markets, landscapes, crafts, food or another community-led activity.
This second day is important because culture becomes more meaningful when you have time to listen rather than simply tick off a visit.
Accommodation: Mid-range lodge/camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 5: Karamoja – Return / Continue Your Uganda Journey
After breakfast, begin the return journey or continue to your next Uganda destination.
For travelers with more time, we strongly recommend extending this itinerary to Kidepo Valley rather than returning immediately.
