How to get to the places where gorillas live
Volcanoes National Park is in the northwest of Rwanda. It is easy to get there by car; the drive from Kigali International Airport to the park offices takes about two to three hours.
You can get to both Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park from Kampala by driving through Masaka, Mbarara, and Kabale on your way to either Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The drive from Kampala to either park takes about 9 to 10 hours.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park are both long drives for some travelers. To get to the parks, you can book a regular or private flight from Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrips and then drive to the park offices.
Visitors can also get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park from Kigali, Rwanda. They will need to fly to Kigali International Airport and then drive for four to five hours to get to the park headquarters via the Cyanika border in Kisoro or the Katuna border in Kabale.
