Rhino‑Tracking Experience at Ziwa rhino sanctuary

Daily tracking sessions last between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, depending on the rhinos’ location

Participants are briefed on safety protocols—stay quiet, keep a safe distance, follow ranger guidance, no flash photography, and respect wildlife and habitat.

 Typically, you will first take a drive to the rhinos, then proceed on foot, guided by an armed ranger providing insight into rhino behavior, ecology, and conservation on‑site. 

For tracking rhinos in Uganda, note that rhinos are most active early morning (8–10 am) or late afternoon (4–6 pm) – ideal times for tracking and photography. Therefore, you can have rhino tracking in the morning or join the afternoon session.
