Parking Entrants’ Fees

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) defines park entrance fees as also a conservation price. This small payment has to be paid by the visitors to all protected areas in Uganda if the park is to remain in existence free from human encroachment and other activities that somewhat assist resilience and balance to the ecological community.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) made public last year the conservation rates for national parks, game reserves, and forest reserves within Uganda. Starting with the main national parks in Uganda, Uganda’s wildlife authority classified all of the protected places in the country into groups. Furthermore specified are the park admission fees for guests to Queen Elizabeth National Park as follows:

  • Visitors to Queen Elizabeth National Park must pay UGX20000 for East African Community residents, USD30 for foreign residents and USD40 for foreign non-residents.
  • Children visiting queen Elizabeth National Park are charged; USD20 for foreign nonresidents, USD10 for foreign residents, and UGX5000 for East African Community nationals.
  • Students from Uganda must pay a park entrance fee of UGX3000; tertiary institutions and universities are charged UGX5000 per individual.

Uganda Wildlife Authority also set yearly rates for park entrance passes as described below;

  • Those visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park and wish to pay for the annual park entrance pass are entitled to a price of USD 350 for foreign residents and UGX150000 for East African Community members.
  • Couples visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park pay USD 5000 for foreigners and UGX200000 for East African Community members annually.
  • For park access to queen, a household pays USD700 for foreign residents and UGX300000 for East African community members annually. Uganda Wildlife Authority notes that a family must have exactly four (4) children.
  • Corporate annual park access pass is charged; USD1500 for foreign residents and UGX 2500000 for East African Community members.
  • An annual gate pass at Queen Elizabeth National Park entitles a safari guide a price of UGX100000. The taxi driver needs the same payment of UGX100000 to get the yearly access to queen Elizabeth National Park. On the other hand, a tour company driver is not charged for the queen Elizabeth National Park admission pass.
  • A foreign citizen of Uganda, a tour operator qualifies for a USD50 annual park access pass for Queen Elizabeth National Park. On an annual basis, meanwhile, a tour operator belonging to the East African Community is entitled to a charge of UGX125000 for a park entrance pass.

 

In this situation, residents fall into two;

  1. For the foreign residents to obtain an annual permit, they had to provide a valid working permit for not less than a year since this helps to validate their status. Their main justifications are mostly tied to job.
  2. Those who live in Uganda and also belong to the East African Community must show their national ids to validate their identity. Those who live in Uganda must show they are citizens of Uganda by carrying current national identification cards.
  3. Non-residents, on the other hand, are international tourists to Uganda mostly for tourism. To enter protected areas in Uganda, foreign nonresidents must show a current pass port to the office.
  4. Children from 0 to five years old are exempt from the entrance cost at Queen Elizabeth national park. Furthermore entitled to entrance park fees are other children between the ages of five and fifteen, roughly corresponding with the adult age.

The officer will provide you an access card to Queen Elizabeth National Park after confirming your identity. Still, the admission permits for queen Elizabeth National Park are only valid for 24 hours, much as in any other protected area. Any additional time spent within the Queen Elizabeth National Park past twenty-four hours is credited as a second day. Being time conscious about your visits to Queen Elizabeth National Park and time out of the national park is therefore advisable. This will enable you to avoid being charged with a lot of money resulting from fatal errors.

About the Queen Elizabeth National Park entrance cost, what should one know?

For all the East African Community members and foreign visitors to Queen Elizabeth National Park using any vehicle, they should be aware that the vehicle entering a protected region in Uganda charges according to the policy of protected areas. And this price comes apart from the gate pass or entrance cost into the national park.
The admission tariff to any protected area; inclusive Queen Elizabeth National Park is independent of the cost for the packages or licenses to engage in specific activities with in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
To obtain their annual national park entrance pass to Queen Elizabeth National Park and any other protected area in Uganda, foreign residents are advised to provide a one year valid working permit to the park visitor center.
