Fees to enter the 2025 Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: One of Uganda’s most well-known national parks, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to the critically endangered mountain gorillas and has the largest population in the world, with over 600 individuals. It is also a fantastic safari destination known for its thrilling mountain gorilla trekking sessions.

The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which spans 321 square kilometers in southwestern Uganda, is covered by mist due to its high elevation, which ranges from 1,160 to 2,607 meters above sea level. It is primarily home to Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests, which date back 25,000 years.

The four mountain gorilla-habiting sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park—Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo—are home to the robust primates. There are more than 600 mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and there are 18 habituated gorilla families, including the families of Mucunguzi, Bikyingi, Busingye, Kahungye, Bweza, Mishaya, Nshongi, Kyaguriro, Oruzogo, Bitukura, Christmas, Bushaho, Nkuringo, Katwe, Rushegura, Habinyanja, and Mubare.

Trekking one of the eighteen habituated mountain gorilla groups during mountain gorilla trekking safaris in Bwindi’s impenetrable national park is an unforgettable experience. The Uganda Wildlife Authority, a government agency responsible for overseeing all Ugandan national parks and reserves, is in charge of managing Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Mountain gorilla trekking rules and regulations 

Mountain gorilla trekking is the major safari activity offered in Bwindi impenetrable national park, for the conservation of the mountain gorillas this activity is governed by a set of rules and regulations. These include

BEFORE YOU SET OUT

  • Do not visit the gorillas if you have a cold or other infectious illness.
  • Minimum age for tracking gorillas is 15 years.
  • Human waste should be buried 30cm (12”) deep
  • Maximum number of visitors is eight persons per gorilla group

WHEN YOU ARE WITH THE GORILLAS

  • Maintain a 7m (21ft) distance from the gorilla
  • Smoking, eating and drinking are not permitted on the tour
  • If you must sneeze or cough cover your face and turn away from
  • the gorillas, as they can catch coughs and colds from humans
  • Visits are limited to one hour per gorilla group per day
  • Do not use flash photography
